RE:                        Return to School Update and Testing Opportunity

Greetings Starfish Families –

We hope this note finds you well and that you had a joyful holiday season! As we welcome in the new year, we wanted to be in touch with a timely update about returning to in-person learning.

As you all know, we continue to be impacted by the pandemic. The rates of new infections and hospitalizations in Michigan continue to grow. Many regional health care providers warned of another spike following the holidays, and we indeed are experiencing another surge.

Ever since Covid first arrived, Starfish has focused on safety for children, employees, and the community. Our focus on safety continues as we start the new year. To help keep everyone safe we will continue to remain virtual through January 24 – see below:

  • Monday, January 10 through Friday, January 21 – Virtual learning for all children

  • Monday, January 24 – Return to in-person or continue virtual programming for all children

The majority of early childhood education programming will return to in-person learning on Monday, January 24. A small portion of classrooms will continue in the virtual environment or be paused while we hire more exceptional teachers and support professionals. If your classroom was  impacted and is operating virtually  – you were contacted directly with an update and options.

Starfish is also offering free COVID testing for families at some of our center locations.  All families are welcome, and no registration is necessary – see below.

Week of 1/17/22:

  • Marygrove- Tuesday 1/18/22 from 7:00 AM - 9:30 AM

  • Covenant House- Tuesday 1/18/22 from 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM

  • Hiveley- Wednesday 1/19/22 from 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM

We know that the pandemic continues to be challenging and disrupt planning. We are thankful for your patience as we work on answers that keep you and your children healthy and safe.

If you have any questions or want more information about testing , please contact your Family Service Guide.

Sincerely,
